Since the first pilot tests began in January 2009, the National Carbon Capture Center has worked on behalf of the U.S. Department Energy to identify promising, next-generation carbon capture technologies for future commercial deployment. We have become nationally and internationally recognized, hosting developers from seven countries. And through the neutral pilot testing of more than 60 technologies, we have reduced the projected cost of carbon capture by one-third.

To mark this accomplishment, we have produced 10 Years of Technology Development, a high-level summary describing the center’s entire portfolio of gasification, pre-combustion and post-combustion carbon capture projects and their results. This also highlights our plans to increase testing of carbon capture technologies for natural gas power plants – work that will build on past experience to advance future fossil energy technology solutions.
